The Hummagnum is an organic Monster in CrossCode. They can be encountered in the Ku'lero Temple.

Organic
Hummagnum

Armed with a mouth that doubles as a sniper gun, this bird does not mess around. It can react to any movement in a split second and will dodge all incoming fire. However a shot from its beak and a dodge takes a lot of energy leaving it open for a counter attack.

-Monster Fibula report

Appearance

The Hummagnum ressembles a real-life hummingbird with a red body and black wings. Its beak works as a sniper rifle, with a sniper scope in the middle of its head. When dizzy, its black pupils become visible.

Combat

During an encounter, the Hummagnum will be extremely evasive, swiftly getting out of harm's way. To attack, it may charge in place and fire a Shock round, or quickly spin in place and teleport to the opossite side of Lea before firing a Wave round. While charging, it won't dodge but it will take reduced damage. In either case, after taking its shot, the Hummagnum rests and begins flashing red, point where it can only dodge one more attack before becoming dizzy and completely vulnerable for a limited time.

In certain areas of Ku'lero Temple, a pair of Hummagnums stay out of sight, covered with camo mantles, and shoot Lea with unavoidable Shock rounds to prevent her from bringing a Ferro across a bridge to a Ferro Spot. Once she succeeds, they will reveal themselves and engage in combat.

Strategies

Except for the camo Hummagnums, the player won't be hit by their attacks if they move perpendicular to this enemy.

If they aren't aggressive, they won't dodge your first attack, so you can begin the fight by using a Combat Art to gain an advantage. After aggravation, its important to prioritize them since their vulnerability window is rather small, though apparently chasing them around encourages them to charge. In case other enemies are taking your full atention, you should at least make the Hummagnums dizzy to stop their attacks for a while.

Even their incredible dodging capabilities aren't flawless against area-of-effect Combat Arts like Calamity Trigger-icon Calamity Trigger, allowing you to dispatch them without waiting for their shots. This might not always work, however.
